Roles in Wuthering Waves

I've been playing this game for about a year. From my experience, distinguishing roles in this game is quite easy, if you deal high damage, you're a main DPS, if you deal damage and buffs, you're a sub-DPS and if you provide healing and buffs, you're a support. A role in Wuthering Waves is a role or function within a team.

In this game, characters have several different roles, including: 

Main DPS (Damage Per Second): The main source of damage on the team. Their kit focuses on dealing maximum damage. 

Sub-DPS: Responsible for providing buffs or covering team deficiencies, in addition to dealing damage. They often increase elemental damage or attack.

Support: Provides support to the team through healing, shields, energy, or buffs. Their primary focus is not on damage. 

We can also differentiate roles based on their elements. For example, Fusion and Electro are usually main DPS, Glacio is a sub-DPS, Aero is a support, and Spectro and Havoc are flexible depending on the character.   

Below is some brief explanation about the elements in Wuthering Waves:

Electro 

Usually, these characters are used to give buff effects to teammates and deal damage in a wide area, but with small damage.

Aero 

These characters often have the ability to increase teammates’ stats (buff) or decrease enemies’ stats (debuff). They can also pull or knock down enemies.

Glacio 

These characters’ skills can freeze enemies and stun them for a while. They can deal extra damage while giving control effects. They can also control annoying enemies or deal extra damage when the main DPS is on cooldown.

Fusion 

These characters are most often used as main DPS because they can deal big damage in a short time and defeat enemies quickly. Combining them with other elements like Electro can create very strong effects.

Spectro and Havoc 

These characters are very flexible. They can be main DPS or support, depending on the character type. They can adapt to different situations, fill the role needed in the team, or give extra support.

From the 6 elements above, I often combine Spectro, Fusion, and Aero because their traits match well, making it easier to defeat monsters. I rarely use Glacio because I haven’t found the right character combination for this element yet.

So, to tell apart roles in Wuthering Waves, we just need to understand the traits of the characters we use and the elements that can affect their characteristics. (AL)
