Facing Fear Alone: Lessons from My First Solo Flight
By: Sellaevania
Have you ever felt when you want to do something for the first time on your own, but you feel both scared and excited at the same time? For me, that moment was when I had to fly alone by myself for the very first time. But this teaches me a lot, let me tell you my story.
Since I was a little kid, I always dreamed that someday I could travel alone and explore the world by my own. I imagined visiting new places, meeting new peoples, and learning new cultures. Three years ago, that dream finally came true, but not in the way I expected. My first solo trip doesn't happen for a fun vacation. Instead, I had to go back to my hometown. When the day finally came, on June 5th, I felt really nervous. It was my first time being at the airport alone. I didn't really know where to go or what exactly I should do. I was scared I would get lost or even miss my flight. I tried to stay calm, but inside, I was panicking.
After checking in and passing security, I sat down and kept checking my ticket again and again to make sure I was at the right gate. When it was time to board, my hands were shaking. But once the plane took off and I looked outside the window, I saw the clouds and I realized I was really doing it. I was flying alone. Slowly, my fear turned into pride and excitement.
I felt so proud of myself. It wasn’t only about reaching my destination, it was about showing myself that I can be independent and brave.Don’t be afraid to try new things on your own. Being alone doesn’t mean you are powerless, it's actually the moment where you learn to stop depending on others. From your own solitude, you will slowly grow into someone stronger and more independent. Keep fighting your fears until you reach the point where nothing scares you anymore, as long as you still have yourself.
It helped me grow and believe that I can handle challenges on my own. I learn that fear is just the first step to something beautiful. When you go out of your comfort zone, you become stronger and more confident.
So, don’t be afraid to try something new alone. You don’t always need to wait for someone to go shopping, try new food, visit new places, or take a step with you sometimes, walking by yourself is the best way to grow.Because in reality, we can't always depend on someone else. There will be moments when we only have ourselves, and only we can solve our own problems. Other people may watch or be there, but they won't always give us the help we need. Just remember “ At the end of the day , you just have yourself and no one else “.
