Genshin Impact Elemental Reaction

Genshin Impact is an RPG game filled with rich content and a unique combat system based on Elemental Reactions. There are seven elements in Genshin Impact, namely Pyro (fire), Hydro (water), Anemo (wind), Electro (lightning), Dendro (plant), Cryo (ice), and Geo (stone). In my opinion, this is such a unique combat mechanic because, so far, when I compare it to other RPG games, I haven’t found this kind of mechanic in any other RPG. Because most RPG games I’ve played usually require high-skill mechanics like dodging and parrying. But in Genshin Impact, you don’t need high-skill mechanics like dodging and parrying. But in Genshin, the focus is more on maximizing character rotations, elemental buffs and debuffs, as well as elemental reactions.

Elemental reactions are very important mechanics for dealing high damage, and this mechanic is also easy to learn. There are three neutral elements: Anemo,Geo, and Dendro. You can't combine these three elements with each other, and they won't trigger any Elemental reaction. However, you can combine these neutral elements with common one like Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, and Electro. If you combine this neutral and basic elemental, it will trigger an Elemental Reaction. For example, if you combine Anemo with any basic element, it will trigger Swirl, which deals AoE damage. Swirl damage isn't based on character's base ATK, but in their Elemental Mastery.

For another example, if you combine Geo with any basic element, it will trigger Crystallize, which summons an elemental shard. When you pick up the shard, it gives you a shield. For Dendro reactions, you can only combine it with Pyro, Hydro, and Electro. If you combine Dendro and Pyro, it will trigger ‘Burn,’ and this reaction deals continuous damage, similar to poison effects in many RPG game. If you combine Dendro and Electro, it will trigger Spread and Aggravate, which can multiply your damage. If you combine Dendro and Hydro, it will trigger Bloom, which creates a "Dendro Core" that can explode and deal damage. You can also hit this Dendro Core with Pyro to trigger Burgeon, or with Electro to trigger Hyperbloom.

That’s all for neutral elemental reactions. Now let’s discuss basic elemental reactions. Starting with Pyro: if you combine Pyro with Hydro, it will trigger Vaporize, which boosts your Pyro damage by ×1.5. But if you trigger Vaporize with Hydro, it will multiply your Hydro damage by ×2. If you combine Pyro with Cryo, it will trigger Melt, which multiplies your Pyro damage by ×2. If you trigger Melt with Cryo, it will multiply your Cryo damage by ×1.5. If you combine Pyro with Electro, it will trigger Overloaded, which deals AoE Pyro damage and gives a damage bonus against Geo structures and shields (since most Geo characters can create structures or shields).

Now let’s talk about Hydro elemental reactions. If you combine Hydro with Cryo, it will trigger Freeze, which of course freezes your enemy. If you combine Hydro with Electro, it will trigger Electro-Charged, which bounces between enemies affected by Wet and deals AoE Electro damage. And that’s all for elemental reactions. Actually, there’s a new reaction called the Lunar reaction, but I still need to learn more about it. So far, what I know is that Lunar reactions can crit—for example, Electro-Charged becomes Lunar-Charged, and ‘Bloom’ becomes Lunar-Bloom. That’s all from me. Thanks for reading this far :)
