Finding Joy in Badminton

Routine activities often arise from unplanned things. What started out as just trying to join in has now become part of my weekly routine. This is play badminton. In the afternoon of 2024, I was jogging with my church friends. After we jogged, we sat down and rested. Suddenly one of my friends said "Do you want to play badminton?", and I asked "What time is it? Where?". My friend answered the question. I also felt interested in playing badminton. We went to the court and played together. It felt spontaneous to be invited but fun. Even though I haven't played badminton for a long time, I enjoyed every moment.

Initially, I also joined another badminton group that played every Monday night at a different place. So for a while, I played it twice a week. On Sundays with my church friends and on Mondays with the other group. It felt really enjoyable because I could meet different people and practice more often. Those days were full of energy, and badminton helped me to stay active. However, after I started working and going to college, I only played once a week. Spending hours outside the house made me easily tired. Finally, I decided to stop joining the Monday group because it was too difficult to manage my time.

Now, I only play badminton on Sundays with my church friends. Sometimes the court is full and crowded with many people joining in. Sometimes, the atmosphere is calmer when it's just us playing. Usually, I play with my friends, but occasionally I join games with the church's moms and dads. Even though they're older than me, they play very well and often share tips or jokes that make the game more enjoyable. We don't take it too seriously, it's more about having fun and staying active together. There are times when we take turns using the court or play doubles so everyone gets to participate.

The best part is the warm and supportive atmosphere, which means everyone ends the day with a smile. Since I started working and studying at the same time, life has felt busier and more exhausting. That's why I'm grateful for this Sunday routine. It helps me relax, stay healthy, and reconnect with my church friends. It's not just about exercise but also about community and joy. (S. G)
