The Benefits of Modern Dance

I chose this topic because I have my own experience in it for more than 4 years. I have liked dance since 2018 however, I started to really focus on this field when I was in 9th grade. I joined various communities in Pontianak and often performed in malls in Pontianak, such as Gaia and Mega Mall. My team and I were frequently invited to perform at different events held in those malls. As time went by, I kept improving in this field, and eventually, my hobby turned into a job.
Recently, I also participated in a competition in July and August in Kuching, Malaysia, and Miri City. My team and I won both competitions; in the first competition we got 1st place, and in the second one we got 2nd place. In this competition, we represented Indonesia because we were the only participants from Indonesia.
Here, I will explain the benefits of dance:
Physical Benefits
Many people say that dance is just a simple movement and only for fun however, dance is also beneficial for training flexibility and improving stamina & fitness.
Mental Health
In the world of dance, you can relieve stress because when you move, you must focus on remembering the choreography; this helps clear out other thoughts from your mind. Dance also teaches us to control our emotions. When we start practicing, we must be patient while learning new choreographies and arranging formations; we need stable emotions to achieve a perfect result. Emotions can also be expressed through facial expressions during a performance, which can make us feel calmer and more satisfied.
Creativity
Movements can be more free and flexible; dance also trains us to be innovative and come up with new ideas. It allows us to show our identity and unique style through movement.
