Sensitivity To Understand Someone

Right now we are going to talk about the importance of understanding someone. Sensitivity to understand someone is something I have learned in the process, since I was in high school until now. And the more I explore it, I realize that we need skills in understanding someone’s situation, feelings, and ways of thinking. Why am I discussing this? When I was in high school I was trusted to keep the classroom conducive to the learning process. This is not an easy responsibility, because you have to face people’s various characters. At that time I did not understand and was annoyed with people who had different perspectives from me.

We must understand what sensitivity is to understand someone and what they mean. This sensitivity involves two important aspects; empathy and sympathy, which refers to the ability to feel and understand the emotions, thoughts, and experiences of others, according to me. From these moments, I learn to step into the feelings, thoughts, and perspective of others. Of course, it is related to “understanding people”, and not everyone is willing to understand others. But, they always want to be understood.

To be considered “sensitive” in understanding someone, one must go through various phases in life. There are times when I feel confused about how to respond to someone, whose character is very different from mine. And even sometimes there are times when I feel too tired to keep trying to understand another person’s characters

From that point, I began to understand that not every human character can be fully accepted. Simply knowing and understanding someone, and I realize that understanding someone is not just about feeling pity or showing emotions. It also includes the ability to understand other people’s situations and emotions. It also includes the ability to have body languages and face expressions in order to understand their feelings. This trait is certainly valuable in social interactions, with the goal of helping us connect more intimately with others and build stronger relationship. (Ndre)
