My Experience in Breeding Betta Fish Until They Have Babies
By: Hondy
This writing is based on my personal experience of how to breed betta fish until they have babies.
Taken from Tribun Lampung News, many people have experienced baby fish dying in less than a week. But I managed to raise my baby betta fish until they reached the teenage stage.
I usually use these tools to breed betta fish. First, I use a box, such as a styrofoam box, with large size. Second, I use black plastic as a place to store the eggs. Third, I use ketapang leaf water to make the fish healthier. Lastly, I use one small aquarium and one black bucket for the interaction period of the fish.
For the first step, I have to find the male and female fish. Usually, the male has more beautiful tails than the female. After that, I put the female fish in the aquarium and the male in the bucket so they can recognize each other. After one or two days, I put them together in the styrofoam box and keep the box inside a dark room. I don’t forget to use ketapang leaf water.
After that, I can see an interesting moment. The male fish bites a little part of the female’s body, which marks the place for the small eggs to come out. The two fish will wrap around each other until the female fish passes out. When the female passes out, small white eggs come out.
The male collects the eggs and keeps them separate from the female. If they do not get separated, they will eat their own eggs. The baby fish will hatch after 2–3 days, and I feed them egg yolk. I must be very careful during this stage because it is the most vulnerable time for the baby fish—they can easily die.
