My Journey as a Student Athlete
Being a student athlete is about balancing academics and athletics. I have been a student athlete since the first grade of highschool. At first, I joined basketball extracurricular just for fun. I enjoyed the practices and the chance to make new friends. Fortunately, I was selected to join the school team for upcoming competitions. I was very happy about joining the school team.
After joining the school team, we played in a basketball competition that was paid by the school and we got pocket money. If we played on school days, we could go home four hours earlier before the match started. When the class got an assignment, we must do it too because there was no exception. If we won the competition then the award would belong to the school.
In my journey as an student athlete there is so much benefit to my life. First, I learn how to manage my time better from balancing my training schedule and to study for exams or do my homework. I also learn about how important communication is, like my friends can coordinate with my training schedule. My body also feels healthier because I train almost everyday.
Why is it hard to maintain the balance between the training schedule and my report card? Because as a student athlete, I need to keep a healthy sleeping schedule, but I also need to maintain my score to get permission to play in tournaments. Sometimes I feel exhausted because I have to study for exams and then after exams, I still need to follow the training schedule. (FM)
